Krista Shipsey

Attorney

After attending the University of California at Los Angeles, Krista began law school at the University of San Francisco, before transferring to attend the University of Oregon school of Law.  Upon graduation, Krista moved to Honolulu, Hawaii and worked for the presiding criminal court justice.  Upon returning to Oregon, she clerked for the Honorable Linda L. Bergman in Multnomah county circuit court and then began her career as a trial attorney at the Metropolitan Public Defenders office.

As the supervisor of the Major Felony unit at the public defenders office, Krista oversaw the attorneys and staff in her unit, while also maintaining a vigorous defense of her own cases, ranging from misdemeanors, to drugs and fraud, to homicide.  Krista also supervised a unit handling civil commitment and mental health matters.  Her vast experience with mental health cases, puts her in a unique situation to work with clients who may have or have had in the past, cognitive deficits.   After nearly a decade of service with indigent clients, handling hundreds of matters, Krista then went into private practice.  She regularly represents individuals and entities in criminal investigations and cases in both state and federal court at the trial level.  Krista approaches each case with compassion, utilizing a collaborative approach.  With the assistance of a skilled and experienced investigator and paralegal, Krista is often able to achieve successful results short of a trial.  When a trial is needed, however, she will take a zealous, efficient and diligent approach to litigation.
